We’re really excited to finally get Rachel and Jamie’s Hampstead Heath engagement shoot up on the blog! Jamie got in touch with us a few weeks ago to see if we could do a surprise engagement shoot for Rachel’s birthday. They’re getting married in June so we said it would also be a great idea to warm them up in front of the camera before their big day. We can’t stress enough how important it is to build a relationship with our couples before their wedding day. Getting to know each other is an important part of the process for us, and engagement shoots are a prefect way to do this!
Rachel and Jamie are two hard-working doctors busy saving lives in Leeds so we took them for some time out at The Hill Garden and Pergola in Hampstead Heath – one of London’s most secret and relaxing nooks. This place is insanely enchanting, and feels just like stepping into a romantic 18th Century novel.
The pergola, which is essentially a beautifully constructed raised walkway way, was built around 1904 by a wealthy philanthropist Lord for garden parties and lazy summer evenings, right on his town house door step. Now fallen into complete disrepair, the ethereal hill garden and pergola have taken on an air of poetic mystery, with overgrown vines, creepers, mossy columns and a peacefulness not matched anywhere else in this restless city – a true secret garden in every sense. Also, in case you were wondering, it’s totally possible to say ‘I do’ up here. We loved photographing Rachel and Jamie’s Hampstead Heath engagement shoot, these two had such an amazing connection, we didn’t need to do much to warm them up! We can’t wait for their Italian castle wedding in June, which we’ll be sure to put up on the blog!
