East London Wedding // Shawn & Rachael
Shawn and Rachael’s East London wedding was a non-stop whirlwind of events, and we’re not quite sure how it all got squeezed into 8 hours! We first met Shawn and Rachael at a wedding fair last September where they happened to be walking past and came to take a look (i.e bag a glass of free champagne). They were a super friendly couple, and so excited to be planning their wedding day together, we hit it off and they booked an engagement session to boot! Shawn and Rachael met working at a summer kids camp a few years ago ‘where Rachel fell for my awesome guitar playing skills and Aussie accent’ said Shawn.
We really felt like we journeyed with Shawn and Rachel, from their engagement session with us, to their first dance – it was an amazing ride to have been a part of and we felt honoured to capture it. We always encourage getting to know our couples as much as possible before their big day as it really helps them warm up in front of the camera and we end up feeling more like friends.
Shawn and Rachel decided on an East London Wedding, where their local church is based – Christ Church Spitalfields. It’s an iconic building just opposite the famous Spitalfields market with an amazing naturally lit interior that made our hearts swell (photographers will get what we mean). After all the tears of joy and hurricane of confetti, they held a quick mini reception inside the church before we hijacked them for their couple portraits around the city. What we loved about these guys was that they were up for anything, basically walking across Millennium Bridge in their wedding getup didn’t phase them – but London is that kind of a place, you can do anything and it’s just kind of normal. Their main reception was at The Stationer’s Hall, one of the City’s original Livery Halls. It was a gorgeous traditional venue with a feeling of grandeur to it, and the secret garden at the back was incredible, apparently it has the oldest tree in London planted in it – how’s that for a fun fact. These guys ate, laughed, cried and danced the rest of the night away, so take a look and enjoy this East London wedding ride!
