A Rustic Italian Wedding in Tuscany
Let us transport you to this stunning rustic Italian wedding we shot back in July. Sophie and Tim got married at The Lazy Olive, set deep in the undulating hills of Tuscany, and it was it was an absolute dream. Now no-one expects anything but golden sunshine in this part of the world, but we got to see a more wild and moody side to Tuscany as the weather took a very unexpected turn – not to anyone’s detriment though, it just made this beautiful love story a little more dramatic! Sophie and Tim both work in the film industry, and we met these guys browsing the stalls at a wedding fair in London over a year ago. They totally resonated with our photographic style, and we just knew this was going to be something really special.
Sophie & Tim
Sophie and Tim drove all the way from London, so that their cute pup Edie could participate in the ceremony as the ring bearer! Sophie even had Edie embroidered on her veil which we thought was a mega cute detail! There was a funny moment when the rings actually fell out of the pouch which was attached to Edie’s collar as she made her way to the ceremony spot, but luckily with everyone pitching in, they were swiftly found in the (very long) grass – phew!
This rustic Italian wedding was intimate and family orientated and it was wonderful to see so many emotional reactions from everyone throughout the day. Their humanist ceremony was conducted by Tim’s uncle, and each of their siblings gave some beautiful readings. Sophie’s brother also played the viola as she walked down the aisle.
A rustic Italian wedding is definitely all about the fresh food! Aperol spritz’s and all the Italian canapés you could imagine were doing the rounds at the drinks reception, and we got to sample some incredible locally sourced black truffle. Before sunset we snuck off for couple portraits and felt pretty overwhelmed by how emotional it all got, the spirit of Italy definitely seems to have that effect on people, and we just loved every second of documenting such a pure and real love between these two best friends, and soul mates.
Dinner was served amongst the pretty olive groves lit with festoon lights, and some killer speeches were given that got quite a few people teary. Dancing and desert were combined, and we made it back to our car just as the first drops of rain started to fall. Lucky does not even begin to describe this day with regards to the weather!
P.s We also photographed Sophie & Tim’s engagement shoot last summer in London, you can check it out here. We’re gonna miss these guys (and Edie)!
