Humanist Wedding // Sophie & Sam

A Humanist Countryside Wedding At Boxted Hall, Suffolk

Dan and I have really fond memories of Sophie and Sam’s gorgeous humanist wedding we photographed in the Suffolk countryside a few months back. Our guilty pleasure is staying at Tuddenham Mill, (a sweet boutique hotel), when we shoot weddings around there and we always opt for one of the cute meadow nooks to stay in. The hot tub is perfect for relaxing in after being on our feet for 10 hours!

It was an unseasonably hot day in mid-September and I was 6 months pregnant, (still not sure how I managed to get some of the action shots with my bump!). Sophie and Sam are both architects, and originally from the area which is why they chose the hauntingly beautiful Boxted Hall as their venue. It’s an old secluded mansion surrounded by gorgeous countryside. They wanted a fuss-free DIY style kind of day and made sure to get friends and family involved with the set up!

These guys were the sweetest of people and had an amazing connection with each other, we totally fell in love with their individual style. Sophie’s red burgundy dress was killer! They had a beautiful hand fasting ceremony on the lawn outside the house, after which, everyone got to soak up the autumnal sun with a drink in hand for a good few hours! Sophie’s Dad and Sam’s brother gave heartfelt speeches just before the meal, and then we snuck off for some portraits.

In the evening, Sam, (also a talented musician), took to the stage with his band and played an incredible live music set which got everyone fired up for the night. They then danced to the theme of Pulp Fiction before everyone else joined in for a good old knees up!
